The Journal of Nutrition’s Editor-in-Chief, Teresa A. Davis, PhD, is pleased to welcome Daniela Hampel, PhD, and three other individuals as Editorial Board Members.
Daniela Hampel, PhD, Department of Nutrition, University of California, USDA/ARS Western Human Nutrition Research Center, Davis, CA. Her expertise is in human milk, lactation, food chemistry, analytical chemistry, minerals, and vitamins.

Dr. Lauren Au is one of 10 recipients of the 2023 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Healthy Eating Research Grants. Her project aims to determine whether length of participation in Medicaid, SNAP, and WIC is associated with diet quality and weight status at 2-5 years, and whether there is a synergistic benefit of safety net program participation on diet quality and health.

It was fabulous to have such a large number of student and faculty attendees – we are fairly certain we may have had record attendance/participation!

Lauren Au, PhD, RD has received the 38th annual Huddleson Award for the article, “A Qualitative Examination of California WIC Participants’ and Local Agency Directors’ Experiences during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic,” which was featured in the December 2022 issue of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (2022:122(12), 2218-2227).
Dr. Au is an assistant professor of nutrition at the University of California, Davis. Au is a registered dietitian with expertise in maternal and child nutrition.

Dr. Christine Stewart has been elected to serve on the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) Board of Directors starting on August 1, 2023. Dr. Stewart will serve a two year term as Director-at-Large for Global Nutrition. This role serves as a board liaison to ASN at it relates to the scientific discipline.
Current Developments in Nutrition Editor-in-Chief, Jack Odle, PhD, is pleased to welcome Reina-C. Engle-Stone, PhD, Associate Professor and Associate Nutritionist in the Department of Nutrition at the University of California, Davis, as an Academic Editor for CDN.
The UC Davis Department of Nutrition hosted the 2nd annual Diversify Dietetics Meetup on May 11th with a great turnout of students and local dietitians. Diversify Dietetics local meetups occur all across the country and are a chance for students, educators, and professionals to build community with one another at casual and fun meet-ups.
Dr. Carl Keen, Professor Emeritus, has been selected by the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) and ASN Foundation as one of 16 individuals who will be inducted into its class of 2023 Fellows. To be inducted as a Fellow of the Society is the highest honor ASN bestows, recognizing individuals for significant discoveries and distinguished careers in the field of nutrition.
